The Zoning commission heard more public comments then closed the meeting to the public. TheyRead Morestarted to talk discuss the gas station. Some were on the fence about whether they wanted it or not. Most agreed there was too much information to process so it was decided to continue the meeting/discussions to the September meeting. There are no meetings in August. If you want to watch the meeting go to Simsburytv.com in a few days to see the recording.

Oh I don't know POODETWA, there are worse things than a gas station in land zonedRead More"industrial&q uot;. More troubling for local residents should be the mixed building in the Pool Barn itself which will bring more rental apartment type dwellings which has the potential to devalue local real estate prices. Look across the street at Kings Ridge which opened last year and see that the high rental rates originally advertised have now dropped. Is this really want we want in Weatogue? I'd take the gas station over more rental properties with the transient nature of the inhabitants.

Hi Peter, Thanks for your comments. Please visit our website simsburynogas.com. Yes the apartmentRead Moret hing is an issue. Who will live in a town house at a location of a gas station? Our town is building too many apartments. Who will live in them in years to come? There are many issues. The trench/ditch or watercourse that runs around that property which flows into the wetland area, Minister Brook and the Farmington River. The Wetlands Commission was bind by state laws to pass it even though they did not feel the property is suited for a gas station. See our website for their decision. The applicant is asking for a zone change to a PAD. The applicant is asking to eliminate the 400 foot regulation of a gas station and a house of worship, school, playground etc. This would be a special exception. This regulation was put in place to protect sensitive areas. The other gas stations in town were put in years ago before this regulation was put in place. Please pass the word that this is not a good idea to change or make exceptions to our regulations. If they do that here they can do it anywhere in town.
