Senior Citizens Pizza and Football Night

On Friday, Sept. 23, and the town hosted the third Senior Citizens Sports Night with a free pizza dinner followed by a football game.

Principal Neil Sullivan and Athletic Director John Domainque hosted the evening with the dinner paid for and arranged by the senior center. Friday night was one of many initiatives that have grown out of senior outreach efforts by school and town officials, including Selectman Lisa Heavner who served food on Friday.

The goal of the outreach initiatives is to promote inter-generational connections with mutual benefits for the town's senior citizens and students. More than 30 people attended the fun evening and close to 15 student volunteers helped greet seniors and serve food.

All were treated to a demonstration by the local twirling team, which includes Kelly Savino, Taylor Willerup, Maggie Willerup, Margot Reed and Kara Tighe. Not pictured was Megan Tighe.

The article says it provides information about "various ways" the community can helpRead More teachers. However, it provides information only about the Staples discount program. The link takes you to a Staples website, not to a list of ways communities are helping. In addition, statistics given are national, not relating to Simsbury, or even Connecticut. This seems like a canned article designed to promote Staples. Was it written and submitted by that retailer?
