Simsbury Chamber Names Event Coordinator to Team

Ann Marie Potter has joined the Simsbury Chamber of Commerce as Event Coordinator, responsible for managing a variety of programs and events for Chamber members.

A long-time Simsbury resident, Potter will bring a depth of event management, public relations and marketing
communications experience to her position.

Her responsibilities include organizing the Annual Meeting, Business Expo, Business Leaders Breakfast, Home Improvement Show and other networking events.

“Ann Marie’s knowledge of the Simsbury business community and professional expertise put her in an excellent position to help us better serve our members,” said Executive Director Charity Folk.  “We continue to review our programs to meet our members' changing needs, especially in this challenging economic climate.”

According to President Kay E. Green, the Simsbury Chamber has a new, consumer-friendly website. The
extensive business directory makes it easy to find everything from restaurants and retail shopping to professional and health-related services. New Community
Announcement e-mails keep residents up-to-date on events, weather alerts, and emergency information.

“We want to be the go-to resource for local businesses and residents as well,” Green said. “Ann Marie is a great addition to our team as we explore novel and exciting ways to add value for our members and the community.”

Potter has worked at Mintz & Hoke Communications Group in Avon, the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center in Hartford, and contributed articles to the Hartford Courant, The Simsbury News and other local media.  She recently coordinated the
fundraising and installation of the Simsbury Bike Sculpture.

The Simsbury Chamber of Commerce has over 400 members from Simsbury and beyond and was recently named the 12th largest Chamber in the Greater Hartford Region by the Hartford Business Journal.

The article says it provides information about "various ways" the community can helpRead More teachers. However, it provides information only about the Staples discount program. The link takes you to a Staples website, not to a list of ways communities are helping. In addition, statistics given are national, not relating to Simsbury, or even Connecticut. This seems like a canned article designed to promote Staples. Was it written and submitted by that retailer?
