Thank You, Simsbury!

The 2nd annual Cell Phones for Seniors collection in December was a great success! Moira Wertheimer, Nancy Haase and Sean Askham were on hand, joined by fellow Republican Committee members for this year’s drive.

“Our thanks to the residents who donated their phones and to Fitzgerald’s and Starbucks for allowing us to set up our collection sites at their businesses,” said Nancy. “We are very appreciative of everyone who contributed to make the drive a success.”

The Department of Social Services helps distribute the free emergency cell phones. In times of crisis, power and telephone lines are often down leaving many seniors without a way to call for help if there is an emergency. Even deactivated cell phones can be used to dial into
the 911 system. Sean Askham stated, “The Department of Social Services does an outstanding job facilitating this program and it’s our pleasure to support it.”

If you have unused cell phones, they can be dropped off throughout the year at the Social Services Department at Eno Memorial Hall or set them aside for next year…for the 3rd Annual Cell Phones for Seniors drive!

The article says it provides information about "various ways" the community can helpRead More teachers. However, it provides information only about the Staples discount program. The link takes you to a Staples website, not to a list of ways communities are helping. In addition, statistics given are national, not relating to Simsbury, or even Connecticut. This seems like a canned article designed to promote Staples. Was it written and submitted by that retailer?
