Adapted from the 1990 book "Shrek!" by David Lindsay-Abaire and the Oscar® winning 2001 Dreamworks film "Shrek," the musical follows the ogre Shrek, whose peaceful swamp home has become a refugee camp for all the fairytale creatures banished from the nearby kingdom of Duloc by the evil Lord Farquaad. Farquaad agrees to allow the creatures back into Duloc, giving Shrek back his peace and quiet, provided Shrek brings Farquaad the beautiful Princess Fiona to marry, so that he can become king. On the journey back, Shrek and Fiona fall in love, and Shrek discovers that Fiona has a secret she has been keeping for many years.

Under the choreography of Melissa Feder and the musical direction of Jason Stammen, the seventh- and eighth-graders will sing and dance to many songs including “Freak Flag,” “What’s Up Duloc,” and the popular “I’m a Believer.”
