Nelson Perry of Simsbury, newly 9, chose to collect donations to help support Mary's Kitty Korner in Granby. He asked friends attending his birthday party to donate to the shelter instead of buying him a birthday gift. In all, Nelson collected $150 to support the shelter. Nelson chose Mary's Kitty Korner as the recipient of the donations as his family has fostered for Mary's and also has two cats of their own from the shelter. Nelson recently visited Mary's to present the donations and visit with the cats and kittens at the shelter.
The mission of Mary’s Kitty Korner is to provide a safe refuge for stray, abused, neglected and owner-surrendered cats & kittens. They also educate the community on the importance of spaying and neutering. In addition, the organization works to aid in finding these cats carefully screened permanent, safe & loving homes where they will live as family members. For more information on Mary's Kitty Korner visit their Facebook page or www.maryskittykorner.org.
