May 29: LEGENDS Concert at Simsbury High

The house will be rocking on May 29 as the 2014 “Legends” concert arrives at the Simsbury High School auditorium!   The final choral concert of the 2013-2014 school year will feature all of the school’s choirs and choruses as well as stellar small ensemble and solo performances.  The family-friendly, upbeat contemporary music concert is free and open to the public.

This concert is an annual audience favorite since the creativity and special talents of individual students are on display within the collaborative energy provided by ensembles and large groups. Featuring audition-only solos, student-arranged pieces and choreography, this year’s concert will showcase music by the legends of popular music.  A house band, consisting of Robert Tomasulo on piano, Ryan Ford on bass, and Michael Blancafour on drums, will accompany the performers.

In addition to vocal aptitude, work by one of the high school’s talented student arrangers will be featured when Treble Chorale performs sophomore Kate Campolieta’s arrangement of Billy Joel’s The Longest Time.  Soloists for this song will be sophomores Olivia Coe, Kate Campolieta, Dana Winslow and Olivia Schwager.

They will be followed by The Pretenders’ I’ll Stand By You with soloists freshman Sean Sinacori and sophomores Sarah Ursini and Kate Angus.

The Women’s Treble Chorale will be performing audience-pleasers such as Mister Sandman and a mash-up first performed on “Glee,” featuring soloists sophomore Kristin Weiss, junior Anna Riccuiti, junior Casey Root, senior Rachel Sennott, and sophomore Ana Ashchepkova.   More Beatles and the always popular Over the Rainbow, with ukulele accompaniment provided by senior Sam Kyzivat, will be performed by the Women’s Chamber Choir.  The boys’ a cappella group, Unaccompanied Minors, will be performing Stevie Wonder’s  Signed, Sealed, Delivered.
