Framed Botanicals, Vintage Garden Ornaments and More on May 25

Long-time Simsbury resident Liz Vogt will open her lovely gardens and showcase her eclectic collection of pressed plants - each displayed in antique frames - on Saturday, May 25, from 10am-2pm at 15 Hop Hollow Road. Raindate: May 26

Browsers are welcome and many items will be for sale.

A master gardener, Liz has pressed dozens of wildflowers and cultivated plants in the past decade. Each is carefully matched with frames that have been restored and custom cut.

She will explain her pressing and framing process, which is time-consuming and requires great patience.

"Nature inspires me and drives the artist in me," said Liz, who also paints with oils and creates primitive hooked rugs. "When properly framed, one leaf can represent all of nature."

With the help of her husband, Roger, Liz has created a bird sanctuary in her yard that attracts more than 20 species, including blue birds.

Butterflies, hummingbirds and bumble bees are also frequent visitors to the Vogt gardens.

Definately worth a visit on a beautiful spring day!
