Ashleigh Woodfield and Jennifer Hamilton were Conard High students who loved sports, the arts, their families and friends.
They were tragically killed in a car accident on their way to tour a college on Oct. 23, 2004.
In their memory, the Conard High community is hosting the 9th annual Ashleigh and Jennifer Memorial Golf Outing & Scholarship Event on Oct. 13 at the Tower Ridge Golf Course in Simsbury.
The event has raised about $40,000 in the eight years its been held, said Conard High girls golf coach Ted Holmes, one of the co-chairs of the tournament.
The money goes to scholarships that are awarded to Conard High students. Holmes said that about four or five scholarships are awarded each year.
“This is the largest and most prestigious scholarship students at Conard High School can receive,” a press release states.
Holmes said that he is looking for more parents to take part in the event. The more money that is raised, the more scholarships can be awarded he said.
The cost for entry is $150 for adults and $80 for students and includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, snacks and dinner. The cost is just $40 for people wishing only to eat dinner.
Prizes will go to the first, second and last place finishers, as well as two closest to the pin, longest drive and a 50/50 par 3. There will also be a raffle.
Checks may be made payable to: AJMGO, Conard High School , 110 Beechwood Road, West Hartford, CT 06110.For more information, visit here or contact Ted Holmes at Ted_Holmes@whps.org or Kate Ford at Kate_Ford@whps.org.
