Celebrate National Trails Day on June 1-2 in Simsbury

Hike along the Metacomet Trail or join a bike tour along the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail!

Reconnect with nature in Simsbury with a hike through Peoples the Metacomet Trail on National Trails Day!

The 2.5-mile hike begins at 11:30 a.m. on June 2. Hike leaders Mike Krammen, Ian Clark, Joyce Kennedy Raymes, and Lisa Salazar will be meeting participants on Route 189, north of the Farmington River bridge in Tariffville, according to the Connecticut Forest and Parks Association pamphlet.

Some of the terrain will be steep and rocky, the pamphlet said.

Bikers can also participate in a Trails-in-Motion ride along the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail and Farmington River Trail on June 1. All events begin and end in Simsbury.

A total of 152 Connecticut towns will be celebrating National Trails Day on June 1 and 2, according to the Connecticut Forest & Park Association.
