Celebrating America in Simsbury with the Hartford Symphony

The Hartford Symphony Orchestra Presented its annual Celebrate America concert in Simsbury Wednesday night with performances of patriotic and other inspirational music, honoring both veterans and American heroes. 

Selections included the Star Spangled Banner, American Salute, Semper Fidelis, the Stars and Stripes Forever, The Dream Lives On: A Portrait of the Kennedy Brothers and more. 

The Asylum Hill Congregational Church Choir joined the symphony for several numbers and Robert Honeysucker and Rachel Spencer Hewitt narrated pieces by Nathan Hale, Abraham Lincolin, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and others. 

The show ended with a fireworks display. 

The show was part of the symphony's 2013 Talcott Mountain Music Festival at the Performing Arts Center. Up next is Sinatra Under the Stars on July 12.
