Classic Fundraiser Returns to Simsbury this Weekend

Folly Farm Classic Benefit Horse Show supports Hole in the Wall Gang Camp

With ropes, jumps, fresh hay, banners, children's game areas and more late Friday afternoon, Simsbury's Folly Farm looked more than ready to host one of fall's most notable events.

On Saturday and Sunday, more than 100 horse riders will entertain at the 21st Annual Folly Farm Classic. The event also includes hay rides, crafts, a teacup auction, available food from Kane's Market and much more. Competitions run from 8 a.m. until dusk. Admission is $5 per person but free for those under 12.

"We have a little bit of everything," said show chairperson Jen Volanski. "It's really a nice way to spend a couple hours — or more — on a fall day."

The event benefits The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.  With sponsorships, the event has already generated $20,000. Volanski projects the weekend could add somewhere around $10,000. The horse show tries to be self sustaining so more can go to the camp, she added.
