CL&P Readies Simsbury Site for Special Olympics CT Winter Games

Snowmaking was in full force Tuesday at Connecticut Light and Power's Simsbury Work Center on Route 10.

Volunteers from CL&P and other Northeast Utilities Companies are preparing for the Special Olympics Winter Games on March 1 and 2. Other competition sites include Ski Sundown, the International Skating Center of Connecticut and more.

The donated snowmaking guns at the CL&P site will run through the night in the last effort to prepare the site for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing competitions.

"Hopefully mother nature co-operates," said Mitch Gross, spokesman for CL&P and Yankee Gas, both Northeast Utilities-owned companies.

Volunteers seen in the video include Bud Meyers (hat), Joe Langer and Stephanie Bartholomew.

Okay so the Games are at the beginning of March and they are making snow in January? They do this every year and it melts and they have to do it again. How much is this costing CL&P customers. Common sense says they might start in the middle or end of February.
