Magic Comes to Life in Simsbury Summer Theatre's 'Cinderella'

Tickets are available at Werner Centennial Theatre on the campus of Westminster School Monday and Tuesday night.

If there's one goal Simsbury Summer Theatre has for this year's production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella it's to bring the "magic" to life.

Through special lighting, glowing props, glorious costumes and of course plenty of solid singing and acting, the theatre is doing just that for the July 31 to Aug. 3 show.

"We're bringing a lot of magic and sparkle to the show," said artistic director and conductor Joe Campolieta.

In all, 45 youth from high school freshmen to college seniors are involved in the production, the 48th for the organization. Many are from Simsbury but also towns such as Granby, New Hartford, Winsted and Suffield.

"They've worked incredibly hard," said SST board president Nancy Grandin. "As always, it's an incredible group of kids."

The production takes place in the Werner Centennial Theatre on the campus of Westminster School. July 31, and Aug. 1, 2, and 3 evening shows start at 7 p.m. There is also a 2 p.m. matinee on Aug. 3. Tickets can be purchased online at www.simsburysummertheatre.org or by calling (860) 951-6860.

Tickets, which often do sell out, will also be on sale in the lobby of Centennial Theater from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on July 29 and 30.

Children are encouraged to wear their own princess outfits, and cast members will be available for free in-character autographs and photos after each show.
