What's Open, What's Closed in Simsbury on Veterans Day

Today is Veterans Day, a federal holiday on which we pay tribute to those who have serve our country in the Armed Forces.

Veterans Day was originally named Armistice Day when it was signed into law in 1938 to honor the Treaty of Versailles that ended World War I on Nov. 11, 1918. Here's a look at some of what's open and closed:

  • All federal, state and municipal buildings are closed
  • Simsbury Public schools are open
  • Simsbury Public Library is closed
  • Banks are closed
  • Simsbury Town Hall is Closed 
  • Post offices are delivering Express Mail only
  • The Connecticut DMV is closed
  • The U.S. stock markets are closed
  • Buses and commuter rail are operating on normal schedules
  • Most businesses are open
