Canton During the Civil War

On January 8 at 2 p.m., the Simsbury Historical Society will host a lecture by Dr. Lawrence Carlton, former president of the Canton Historical Society. Dr Carlton will speak on Canton’s role in the American Civil War. Drawing on the diaries of Canton residents Malvina, Emily and Everett Case, and Hartford Courant and Collinsville Star articles, Dr. Carlton will describe the effect the horrendous conflict had on this small town. Suggested donation: $7 for members, $10 for non-members. Location: Ellsworth Visitor’s Center, 10 Phelps Lane on the grounds of the Historical Society.
