Cobb School Presents Harlequin March 9 at Ethel Walker's Ferguson Theater

This coming Monday Cobb School students will dive into rehearsals for Harlequin, a children’s opera composed by Sanford Jones and directed by Bill and Hollis Bokhout.  By Friday night the children will be ready for the curtain to rise.  Harlequin, to be performed March 9 at 7pm in the Ferguson Theater at The Ethel Walker School, will be The Cobb School’s 12th annual opera.

Each year elementary students at Cobb Montessori in Simsbury welcome guest musical directors to spend a week guiding them toward the creation of a full-scale theatrical production.  What the Cobb School children affectionately refer to as “Opera Week” is the time they turn all their energy toward the arts.  The children study a story, commit their music to memory, learn complex choreography, design and paint sets, practice patience and deep concentration, and revel in the joy and satisfaction of performing on stage.

Tickets to Harlequin are $10 and can be purchased from Beth Rumsey at The Cobb School.  Please contact Beth at 860-658-1144 ext. 102 or beth.rumsey@cobbschool.com to inquire.  To learn more about The Cobb School, please visit www.cobbschool.com.
