Friends of Simsbury Library Author Luncheon

Booked for Lunch with Author Andre Dubus III

The Friends of the Simsbury Public Library are sponsoring their annual author luncheon!  This popular event features a best-selling author/speaker and a delicious lunch, served in the gorgeous spring setting of the Hopmeadow Country Club. This year’s author, Andre Dubus III, has written House of Sand and Fog (an Oprah Book Club pick and a finalist for the National Book Award), The Garden of Last Days and others.

Andre Dubus III grew up with his divorced working mother in a Massachusetts mill town saturated with drugs and crime. To protect himself from street violence, Andre learned to use his fists. He was on a fast track to
getting killed--or killing someone else. Meanwhile, his father, an eminent author, taught on a nearby college campus. The clash of worlds couldn't have
been starker.

Only by becoming a writer himself could Andre begin to bridge the abyss with his father. He will be discussing Townie, his riveting memoir, at the luncheon.

The luncheon and talk will be held at the
Hopmeadow Country Club on 85 Firetown Road in Simsbury. The cost is $25 per person. After lunch, Andre will be signing books which will be available for purchase. The public is welcome to attend! Menu choices are listed on the reservation form. To reserve a seat, please call the Simsbury Library at (860) 658-7663, or get a printable reservation form the library web site at www.simsburylibrary.info. Please RSVP before May 15.
