MUSIC LISTENING ADVENTURES: LET'S DANCE!

Dance has always inspired musicians . In this session led by Simsbury husband-and-wife team Juli Hall and David Sims, we’ll watch a video of Aaron Copland’s gorgeous Appalachian Spring ballet and some of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker . We’ll listen to hundreds of years of bourees, hornpipes, minuets, tangos, tarantellas, waltzes, and other dances, as well as dance music by modern musical geniuses such as Bela Bartok, Philip Glass, Darius Milhaud, and Igor Stravinsky. Composer and pianist Juli Hall received her Master’s degree in music composition from the Yale School of Music. Her music has been performed in 2 dozen countries on 4 continents. Cellist David Sims also received a Master’s from Yale. He has performed in several symphony orchestras in Connecticut, was on the faculty of the June in Buffalo seminar for young composers and was a guest performer at the North American New Music Festival. He is a website designer as well as a musician. This program is free and open to all.

Part 1 of this series is on November 29 and Part 2 is on December 6. You may register for 1 or more programs.
