AUGUST HEAT, The Hartford Dance Convention

Pure Imagination Theater and Dance, LLC (dba Evolve Productions) is producing Hartford’s first annual dance convention this summer.  This exciting and prestigious event is an entire day of master classes by the industry’s top professionals.

In addition to classes, dancers will have the unique opportunity to perform for a panel comprised of faculty and additional adjudicators and receive immediate criticism and suggestions for their pieces.  Judges will then vote on a winning routine for the August Heat Hartford Dance Convention.
Evolve Productions brings in high profile choreographers and educators such as Dena and Jenna Spellman, better known as the Spellman Sisters, from Los Angeles.  The Spellman Sisters’ credits include America’s Best Dance Crew, MTV’s Video Music Awards, Dancing with the Stars, assistant choreographers for Cris Judd, Jamal Simms, iParty commercials, choreographers for the Orange Bowl Halftime Shows and more.

Additional talent includes Connecticut natives David “Beatz” Gavilanes and  Ashley V. AndersonBrandon CoulouteJolet CrearyMeghan McDermottCarolyn Paine and Nicole Cassarino from DFX Entertainment, LLC.   The adjudication panel is comprised of more Connecticut talent: Alyson Portelance-Ayers, Daniel Johnson, Dawn Repoli, Annie Whelan, and Arien Wilkerson.

The cost of the entire day is $150 (per dancer, which includes lunch at the Hilton and a free gift) if registration is received by June 1st. Dancers must be 12 years old and older and at an intermediate level and above.  A highlight of the day will be a raffle in which gifts include gift cards to fine restaurants, dance retail stores, and a VIP dinner that evening with the faculty at Black Eyed Sally’s.
