Severe Thunderstorm and Flood Advisory Issued

The severe weather advisory is in effect until 2 p.m.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch and flood advisory across the region until 2 p.m.

Counties included in the advisory are Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London, Tolland, and Windham.

Doppler radar reports indicated a strong cluster of thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts up to 40 mph and heavy rain, according to the advisory.

The report warns of strong lightning and the heavy rain could cause street flooding. Residents are cautioned to stay indoors as the wind could bring down tree branches.

Drivers should not attempt to drive across flooded roadways as the water may be deeper than expected, according to the advisory.
