Cost of Rare Cigars at Simsbury Tobacco Shop Will Shock You

Box of Arturo Fuente cigars is so expensive that Torpedoes Smoke Shop only buys one box each year.

Many Americans like to unwind with a nice cigar, but not many would be willing to shell out $50 for a smoke.

Local cigar afficionados are the reason that Robert Hodge makes sure to purchase one box of the annual Arturo Fuente signature cigar, the Fuente Fuente Opus X. A box of 22 Opus X cigars from 1992 will cost around $1,100.

"I always have one of those annual boxes in the store," Hodge said.

If that particular cigar is too rich for your taste, you might be interested in the $30 variety rolled with tobacco grown right on Carlos Fuente's estate—the very estate that was featured in the Lost City.

"When they sell out, they sell out, and that's it," Hodge said.

For everyone else, Hodge also keeps approximately 300-500 different brands of cigars and 80 blends of pipe tobacco.
