Food Safety Ratings: How Does Your Favorite Simsbury Restaurant Stack Up?

Check out health inspection ratings for Simsbury businesses on the Farmington Valley Health District website.

Which Simsbury restaurants received glowing food safety reviews? And which ones have some catching up (and cleaning up) to do?

Curious Simsbury diners can now find out by visiting the Farmington Valley Health District website, which posts ratings of all of Simsbury's food establishments.

According to the Director of Health Jennifer Kertanis, every business in town that sells food, whether it be coffee and pastries to full-blown meals, is inspected at least once a year to see if it meets the Connecticut Public Health Code and other food safety rules.

Sanitarians inspect restaurants that prepare food in the building, categorized as "class four" establishments, at least four times a year, Kertanis said.

She added that inspectors review the results with food establishment owners and managers if there are deficits. If there is a disagreement with the ranking, the owners can request a re-inspection.

So how does your favorite Simsbury restaurant rank? Visit the FVHD website to find out!
