It's been almost a year since the Borders Group closed its Simsbury location and the building has remained empty ever since. Soon, the vacant retail space at 500 Bushy Hill Road will once again be host to consumer activity.
Last month, Charter Realty and Development announced that it has leased the 23,500-square-foot retail space to HomeGoods.
HomeGoods, a TJX Company, is a retail home fashion store introduced in 1992 and operates approximately 336 stores, according to Charter Realty.
Hiram Peck, Director of Planning and Land Use for the town of Simsbury, said the town has not received any applications for signage or floor plans from the company. Before the company moves forward with use of the space it will have to present plans to town officials for approval, Peck said.

TJX and Charter Realty have not responded to inquiries about the proposed store location.
The HomeGoods Simsbury location represents the 31st deal the commercial real estate company has completed with TJX Company, according to a release.
Simsbury and Avon have gone to Hell over the past 15-20 years. all they want are more taxes so we add more shopping. As a Avon Resident I was born here when Rt 44 had a A&P and that was about it. Homegoods can go home and so can starbucks and all the rest.
