Keeping McLean Residents on the Move

Hoffman Auto Group helps out McLean residents by donating a new van.

The McLean Foundation is pleased to be the recipient of a new blue 2011 Honda Odyssey van, thanks to Hoffman Auto Group. The donation will be used to transport residents of The Village at McLean, the Robinson Assisted Living, and the McLean Health Center to appointments and community activities.

“We had literally driven our last van into the ground,” said Deene Morris, executive director of the McLean Foundation. “Hoffman Auto Group went out of their way to help us, and in doing so have gifted a beautiful new transportation vehicle to our residents.”

“We are always looking for more ways to impact our community,” said Jeffrey S. Hoffman, co-chairman of Hoffman Auto Group. “Helping McLean with their transportation needs was natural for us.”

“We have a long-standing relationship with McLean,” said I. Bradley Hoffman, co-chairman of Hoffman. “We were happy to help in any way we could.”

Morris said that after “driving two vans into the ground” McLean was in immediate need for replacements. For some time, residents had been traveling to off-site appointments in the same van used to transport Meals-on-Wheels to the distribution point in Avon.

McLean manages the Meals-on-wheel Programs for East Granby, Granby, Simsbury, Avon and Canton. Now, due to the donation of the Honda, McLean was able to purchase a Ford Transit to be used solely for the meal delivery program.

“Without the generosity of the Hoffman's,” said Morris, “we would never have such a beautiful and functional transportation vehicle. The Village Concierge is very excited about all of the trips she can plan for the Villagers such as hiking at the McLean Game Refuge and going to concerts in the city. And the residents of The Robinson Assisted Living are now very comfortable going to physician visits and enjoying sightseeing trips.”
