Simsbury Bank gave away $1,000 to the MLKinCT Memorial Project, a Simsbury-based initiative that commemorates two summers during which Martin Luther King, Jr. worked in local tobacco fields, according to a reader post on Simsbury Patch.

MLKinCT aims to build a five-panel glass memorial to examine how King's time in Simsbury, perhaps his first visit to a desegregated society, contributed to his civil rights work.

For more information on the project, visit the MLKinCT website.
