Simsbury Law Firm Places Emphasis on Community

As residents of Simsbury, Eric and Lisa Foy wanted to build a firm that focuses on the community and their clients.

For Simsbury's newest legal team, practicing law is not about building the largest firm. Instead, it's about building a firm that places an emphasis on the community and their clients' needs.

Eric and Lisa Foy, both originally from West Hartford, recently joined forces to open in downtown Simsbury with the goal of practicing law with a focus on the community. As residents of Simsbury, the couple felt strongly about offering their services here in town.

"We're committed to doing the local thing," Lisa said. "We love Simsbury and we wanted to put our offices here."

Lisa first opened her own practice in Simsbury in September 2011 and as her business increased she and Eric decided to team up so they could continue to offer the level of service one would expect from a small firm. The couple felt their clients deserved more focused attention than they might receive at a larger firm.

"We give everybody personal attention," Lisa said. "They're not going to have paralegals working on their files, we do everything."

"I don't think there are a lot of law firms in this area who have the ability to do that," Lisa said.

Eric, a graduate of both Yale and Harvard Law School, and Lisa, a graduate of the University of Connecticut and the Western New England University School of Law, have both worked for larger law firms where they felt they could be offering more attention to the clients.

"We are committed to Simsbury. We really love living here, we love working here, and this is where we've made our life together," Eric said.

In line with their focus on the community, Lisa offers her services on a pro bono basis to organizations like Connecticut Legal Aid and the Interval House as well as helping individuals with social security and disability claims and offering divorce clinics.

As part of the firm's efforts to give back to the community, Lisa will be speaking about estate planning at the on June 27 at 5:30 p.m.

"We have a broad base in terms of the types of work we do," Eric said.

But no matter what the case is, the couple stands by their committment of time and effort to each of their clients.
