First Day of School

We have a first rate State University system

You may have noticed there is a touch of fall in the air, increased activity around our schools and shopping area parking lots have more cars than usual as parents take advantage of tax free week. Some parents are starting to pack up their young adults to send them off to college.

As you know we have a big blended family.  One of our kids, Ethan, will be a junior at CCSU and has settled back into his apartment to get ready for classes.  Alexandra sent pictures last night of her dorm room at UConn, set and ready to go.  Andrew will be a senior at Simsbury High and has begun his search for the right college to match his interests.

A special interest of mine as your State Representative will be our State University system.  (Yes, my husband Mike will have three children in college at one time next year!)  We are so fortunate to have a well respected, first-rate State University system.  It has served our family very well.  I want to be sure that our children’s children have the same opportunity to go to quality State schools.

First day of school in Simsbury is Wednesday, August 29th.    Mark you calendars to allow for extra time during your commute, set your alarms to be sure the kids are up early and be careful driving through town.  We want to be sure our young kids will be filling up the dorms and classrooms at our State colleges and universities.
