I had my first "house party" tonight as an official candidate for State Representative. Who knew it would be so much fun. My hosts tonight were Lisa Harris, Moira Wertheimer, Peter and Kristen Pabich, Sue and Bob Hensley and Liz and Todd Harrington. I wanted to celebrate my candidacy and thank all those who have supported me, especially the many contributors who helped me achieve my fundraising goal.
We decided to have an old fashioned picnic and invited guests to bring salads to go along with the perfect hot dog cooked by Chef Hensley. My sister-in-law Jennifer Girard provided the desserts (she's opening a bakery later this summer called "The Peppermill" on Route 10 just before you get to the YMCA) She will do very well if her desserts are any indication of her talents. And, of course we all welcome new businesses to our Valley.
When it was time for my remarks, I reminded my guests of why I am running - our state's spending is irresponsible, our legislature is totally out of balance and we need to pay more attention to the needs of our small businesses, the backbone of our communities.
