The school enrollment in the Farmington Valley is steadily declining.   Simsbury's is projected to decline 25% by 2021 to a total enrollment below the last minimum in 1962!

The BOE Facilities and Enrollment Task force has been quietly making sure that taxpayers see no benefit from reduced enrollment.    The last plan submitted to the task force calls for redistricting and converting one elementary school to pre-kindegarden (full time preschool taxpayer funded).

We've been told that letting people build houses for families in Simsbury will raise our taxes so we should buy the land for open space, but we are not told that if enrollments decline we can save money on our taxes.

A 25% reduction in enrollment over the next 10 years should produce at least a 2% reduction in BOE expenses each year, not a 2% increase like this year.
