Simsbury seniors can still get help filing taxes through the AARP Free Tax Assistance Program at the Simsbury Public Library. Every Thursday until April 12, 2012 seniors can schedule an appointment to meet with a tax aide from 10:05 a.m. to 3 p.m. The program is being offered by the Simsbury Senior Center and The Simsbury Public Library’s Business Resource Center. Interested taxpayers should call the Simsbury Senior Center at 860 658-3273 to book an appointment.

The 8th District Democrats are hosting an "Issues Workshop" tonight at 7 p.m. at the Canton Community Center Multi Purpose Room at 40 Dyer Ave. Residents are invited to participate in a conversation and planning session with community leaders. Simsbury First Selectman Mary Glassman, Avon Councilman David Pena, Former State Representative Demetrios Giannaros and former Canton First Selectman Kathy Corkum will be the featured speakers.
