Today's Weather: There's a chance we'll see some showers this afternoon according to the National Weather Service daily forecast. Rain is expected mainly after 3 p.m. with patchy fog earlier in the day. Otherwise it will be partly sunny with a high near 77 degrees.

Tonight: Showers are possible after 8 p.m. Otherwise it will be cloudy with a low around 63 degrees.

The Simsbury Free Library is hosting a Book Discussion Group today at 1 p.m. This week the group will take a look at the book “For Cause and Comrades: Why Men Fought the Civil War” by James McPherson. Connecticut State University history professor Tom Ratliff will lead the discussion. The discussion group is free for members.

The Mandell JCC Farmington Valley Early Childhood Center and the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation-Emek Shalom are hosting Go To the Park, a meet and greet event today at 4 p.m. at the Buckingham Playground in Avon. Join other families for outdoor play, kosher ice cream treats, and an opportunity to meet with Mandell JCC Farmington Valley ECC Director, Kate Bodmer and FVJC-ES Religious School Principal, Marlena DeRosa. There's always room for improvement, and the Simsbury Public Library English Conversation Group for adults aims to help anyone wishing to improve their spoken English. Classes will be held Tuesday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the Friends Café on the upper level of the Library. The article says it provides information about "various ways" the community can helpRead More teachers. However, it provides information only about the Staples discount program. The link takes you to a Staples website, not to a list of ways communities are helping. In addition, statistics given are national, not relating to Simsbury, or even Connecticut. This seems like a canned article designed to promote Staples. Was it written and submitted by that retailer?
