Since Dec. 14, 2010, this community has helped Simsbury Patch evolve into the source for all things local.

From our news coverage, announcements, events calendar and places directory, to our Facebook and Twitter pages, and on to Local Voices, we've helped to create an online community for Simsbury, and we'll continue looking for the best ways to serve you.

As local editor, I'd like to thank all of our readers, contributors, columnists, freelancers, bloggers and staff for the site's success thus far. As we’ve said before, this is your town, your site, so please continue to reach out to us!

I mean it — please, use us. If you are still thinking of this web site as a traditional newspaper model with one-way communication — it delivers information to you — you are only getting half the picture and half the benefit of the site.

The way this site works and was designed to work is as a two-way street. This site is yours in many respects. You can post events, announcements, photos, videos, pdfs, comments, or write a blog. If you are a business owner you can claim your directory listing — for free — and add items to it.

At the schools there are many events that take place. If you take photos you can post them on the site and/or on the Facebook page with a short write up. At a sporting event and have taken some photos? Post them on the site, to Facebook or both. Have an Eagle Scout in the family? An honor roll student? Feel free to post it.
