How to Post Announcements And Events on Simsbury Patch

Take part in this easy way to let the community know what's going on in Simsbury!

We're always glad to receive your news tips, press releases, and other information. But we also invite readers to post information to the site to let people know what's going on in the community! You can do so by adding your own announcements and keeping our events calendar up to date. Here's how!

Registration

First, you need to register (don't worry, it's free). On the home page, in the top right corner, click Sign Up. Fill in your name (this is the name that will appear on all your postings, so you want it to look nice: John Smith is better than johnsmith, for example), email address, and password. Or, you can sign up using your Facebook account.

Once you are registered, you will get an email within about 24 hours confirming
your account. Every once in a while this goes to spam, so it’s good to check there
if you don’t see it. Click the link to confirm your account. If you don’t, you won’t be able to post 48 hours after you signed up.

Once you're registered, you're good to go!

Posting an announcement

Scroll to the bottom of the home page and on the right side in green it says Contribute. Click “announce something to everyone.” The title is the headline. Choose the most appropriate category. If you don’t find one that fits, choose ‘promotions’, and then continue to fill in the boxes that follow. Fields
with an * are required.

You can upload photos, videos or pdfs, type in the location in
order to get a locator map, and at the bottom, and click “post my announcement.” If your location is out of town, type in the whole address (84 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury CT for example) and then the locator map will work.

Posting an event

In the top middle of the home page is the calendar. Click the bright green “post your own event” button. Fill in all the boxes and click “post my event” at the bottom. Once again, put in the full address if the location is out of town. You can
post your upcoming event immediately – it will be added to the calendar right away so folks have a good heads up that something is coming up. The more notice the better!

Letting us know

If your announcement or event is of regional interest, e-mail the link to jeff.brush@patch.com once it's uploaded and I will add it to the other Patch sites in the area.

We can also promote your announcement or event on the home page if you send me the link. If you have a photo or video and the permission to use it, add it to the posting to help with its visibility!

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

The article says it provides information about "various ways" the community can helpRead More teachers. However, it provides information only about the Staples discount program. The link takes you to a Staples website, not to a list of ways communities are helping. In addition, statistics given are national, not relating to Simsbury, or even Connecticut. This seems like a canned article designed to promote Staples. Was it written and submitted by that retailer?
