Today is the start of National Bike Month and town officials and organizers of Bike Walk Simsbury will be at town hall to announce a month-long celebration of the state's only bicycle-friendly community. The month of May will feature numerous free rides and other family activities. Check out the Bike Walk Simsbury website or the Simsbury Patch calendar for upcoming events. Join the celebration today at 10 a.m.

There's always room for improvement, and the Simsbury Public Library English Conversation Group for adults aims to help anyone wishing to improve their spoken English. Classes will be held Tuesday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the Friends Café on the upper level of the Library. The Simsbury Free Library will tap its resources to help NBC Connecticut meteorologist Bob Maxon trace the roots of his historic Simsbury home. Maxon has enlisted the help of house historian, lecturer, and writer Marian Pierre-Louis. The program begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by the presentation at 7:00 p.m.  The event costs $5 for members and $10 for non-members and pre-registration is required.  Memberships are available for $20.  Call (860) 408-1336 or email simsburyfreelibrary@gmail.com to register.
