SCTV Petition Asks Obama to Require Cable Providers to Promote Public Programming

A petition asks President Obama to 'require cable operators to provide program listing information for Public, Educational and Government access stations.'

A petition posted on the Simsbury Community Television website requests the Obama administration require cable television providers actively promote public access programming in any program listing information.

"Today, most cable operators do not provide any program listing information for these channels causing them to be long strips of 6-12 hour blocks of nothing, causing confusion for the customer and making content impossible to find," the petition said.

SCTV includes a link to a video that "demonstrates AT&T’s failure to deliver basic functionality for public, educational and government (PEG) access channels on its U-Verse system."
