Why are you seeking office?

The library is the single facility that is available to enhance the life of every Simsbury citizen. I want to continue to be part of this dynamic place where people come daily for education, business, and pleasure. I am excited about the new directions that the library will take in the coming years, as it increasingly becomes a center for community activities. I can't think of a more beneficial and productive way to serve my town.

What experience do you bring to the table?

I was part of the Simsbury Citizens for Library Renewal and the capital committee which enabled the library expansion. The Library Board I have worked on has maintained a high level of community service while remaining fiscally responsible, managing to a decreasing budget. This will continue to be a necessary skill as we go forward.

What do you feel is the town's most pressing issue?

Simsbury, like all other towns, faces financial pressures. We need to preserve the amenities that make Simsbury such a desirable place to live while adhering to a budget that residents can support. I am committed to helping the Library maintain its excellent service and its fiscal responsibility to the town.

What do you love most about town?

I was attracted to Simsbury by the amenities that the town offered to all. Over the years that I have lived here, I have been confirmed in that opinion. Simsbury cares for its citizens by providing, among other things, first class education, recreation, social services, shelter in a storm and an outstanding library. I love living in a place that thinks we are all that important.

What do you like to do for fun?

I am a dedicated cyclist and occasional kayaker and hiker. I belong to several bike clubs and lead day trips around Connecticut. In addition, I have been on the Board of Directors of the Farmington Valley Trails Council since 2000; I volunteer weekly in the NICU at UConn Health Center. I am also an avid reader.

How can residents keep up with you?
