Why are you seeking office?

I am seeking a position on the Library Board of Trustees in order to support the services and programs the library offers - to maintain the excellent library we have while keeping up with the technology of current times and working within a responsible budget.

What experience do you bring to the table?

I've developed, maintained and monitored budgets throughout my career.  I've been on the board of the Friends of the Simsbury Library (8 months).  I've had a library card since I was young.

What do you feel is the town's most pressing issue?

We need to keep the town budget at a responsible level - town taxes are very high.

What do you love most about town?

I grew up in Simsbury and went through 13 years of public schools here.  We moved here 20 years ago because Simsbury is a beautiful place to live (with no highways to bring a lot of traffic).  Also, the town offers many opportunities for activities for children (I have two, Will is a Sr. at SHS and Liza is a Soph. also at SHS).

What do you like to do for fun?

Currently, my husband and I spend a lot of time watching our children at their team sporting events.  I also like to read, play tennis and spend time outdoors.

How can residents keep up with you?

I am on Facebook under "Polly Gardow Rice".
