CT Against Gun Violence and Project Longevity to Present Screening of Documentary Film in Hartford‏

Connecticut Against Gun Violence (CAGV), together with Project Longevity, is presenting two screenings of the documentary film, Shell Shocked: at the Asylum Hill Congregational Church, 814 Asylum Avenue, Hartford on May 7, at 3:00 pm and at the Artists Collective, 1200 Albany Avenue, Hartford at 7:00 p.m.

According to CAGV Executive Director, Ron Pinciaro, “Shell Shocked is a gripping documentary about youth violence in New Orleans.  Project Longevity is an exciting program that has been working successfully to curtail gun violence in the largest cities in Connecticut.”

The viewing will be followed by a discussion led by John Richie, the film’s director; Tiana Hercules, Project Manager of Project Longevity, Hartford; and Ron Pinciaro, Executive Director, CT Against Gun Violence.

SHELL SHOCKED starts at the surface of New Orleans’ murder epidemic and delves into the hearts and minds of those whose lives are most deeply impacted—the youth who live in fear of violence, the parents who grieve a wound that will never fully heal, and the mentors who are saving lives.

SHELL SHOCKED seeks to boil this situation down to its core: violence is causing unbearable loss.

The film argues through the voices of those who are most invested, that this is NOT too complex a problem to address and fix. Project Longevity is working, so far with remarkable success in Connecticut, to do just that.
