DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING SPEAKS FOR HIMSELF: EXCERPTS FROM A PASSIONATE AMERICAN LIFE

Dr. Martin Luther King Speaks for Himself: Excerpts from a Passionate American Life,' assembled and presented by Pam McDonald - a brief, multimedia presentation of Dr. King's philosophy of Nonviolence as he lived it, followed by a question and answer session.  Brief clips from interviews and short excerpts from speeches delivered to African-American congregations reveal his character.  As a prelude before the talk, view a beautiful 4-panel illustrated display of Dr. King's life and times, and a slideshow of inspiring quotations by Dr. King.

Pam McDonald earned a bachelor's degree in Economics at the University of Connecticut (1971) and a M.L.S. at Syracuse University (2000).  She attended an intensive two-week training in Dr. King's Philosophy of Nonviolence under one of Dr. King's closest protégés, Dr. Bernard Lafayette.  Pam has toured sites in the South that were central to the Modern Civil Rights Movement, and has co-led Simsbury and Hartford adults and teens in Kingian Nonviolence workshops in association with the Connecticut Center for Nonviolence.  In 2010, local students expanded her research about Dr. King's two teenage summers in Simsbury, producing a 15-minute DVD, “Summers of Freedom” which is still viewable on
YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15DOMy61Wxw.  She is currently a librarian at Westminster School.
