The Gallery on the Green in Canton will be holding its annual Holiday Show and Sale from November 9 through December 16. The public is invited to both the  festive holiday reception on Saturday, November 10 from 6 – 9pm and the  holiday party on Saturday, December 15 from 6 – 9 pm .


The annual Holiday Show is set up differently from other shows at the gallery.  In the main floor gallery unique, handcrafted work are on display include a wooden items, fiber arts, ceramics at affordable prices so that folks can do some of their holiday shopping in the peaceful and most pleasant atmosphere of this historic gallery.


Also in the upstairs galleries are the works of Rachel Miller and a special showing of Avon artist Joe Hoke and Granby artist Sally Sargent Markey.


Rachel Miller is exhibiting sculptural pieces made from handmade paper and mixed media.   Rachel has a fascination with undulating, sinuous line, form and texture she finds  in the forms found in landscapes and flowers.


Joe Hoke acrylic paintings capture the atmosphere of a scenes in nature . His paintings may capture  the day just after the rain stops, a foggy day in the hills or sun breaking through and illuminating part of a landscape.  


Sally Sargent Markey’s watercolor representational paintings include local scenery and close up views of elements from nature. Light and shadow describe form and also add texture and rhythm to the painting’s surface.  In her more abstract work she uses real objects inspired symbols, mood and deeper meanings.




The Gallery on the Green is located on the corner of Dowd Ave. and Rt. 44 in Canton.


Hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 – 5 pm. The main floor gallery is handicapped accessible.
