FRIENDS MUSIC SERIES: DAN RINGROSE - TRADITIONAL IRISH AND CELTIC MUSIC

The Friends of the Simsbury Public Library Music Series continues on Friday, March 21 from 8:00 to 9:30 PM in the Library Program Room at 725 Hopmeadow Street with Dan Ringrose. This Connecticut-born singer and songwriter was reared on Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem music, and he had already begun singing their tunes by the age of three. His love of Celtic music developed early in life, and that love grew as he did.

With a rich, baritone voice that has been described as 'stunning' and 'powerful' along with a 300 song repertoire and mischievous sense of humor, Dan began performing professionally over thirty years ago. From fairs and festivals to concert halls, he's known for command of the stage, easily enticing crowds to clap and sing along with hearty Irish 'rousers' -- and at the drop of hat will move them to tears with sweet ballads and poetry.

Along with radio (WTIC AM with Ray Dunaway) and television appearances (Better Connecticut and Fox CT TV), his career has afforded him the honor of performing with some of the most notable names in Celtic music.

Dan's solo releases include 'A New Season', 'All That Matters', 'Seven Old Ladies', and 'Keeping the Tradition.' They each capture the passion, emotion, and humor enjoyed by so many through the years. Dan's website is www.ringroseandfreeman.com.

Doors open at 7:30. Preregistration through the library is requested, but not required. You may reserve a seat at 860-658-7663 x2200 or visit www.simsburylibrary.info (click on calendar). Free and open to all.
