SIMSBURY CAMERA CLUB MONTHLY MEETING: PHOTOGRAPHER RON ROSENSTOCK

After seeing an exhibit of the photographs of Edward Weston at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC in 1960, Ron Rosenstock knew he would have a life in Photography. He wrestled with all aspects of commercial photography until Minor White came to M.I.T. in 1966.  Ron's years with Minor White, from 1967 to 1973 set the course for the years to come. Ron will talk about how he has been teaching, photographing, publishing and exhibiting for the last 40 years. His presentation will include some of his best work in black and white, color and infrared photography. After publishing five books, having well over 150 exhibits, here and abroad, Ron leads photographic tours worldwide. Ron’s photographs are in the collections of the Fogg Art Museum, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, The Worcester Art Museum, International Center of Photography, University of Arizona, University of New Mexico, Polaroid Corporation, and Castlebar Urban District Council, County Mayo, Ireland. He has been honored with numerous solo exhibits in the United States, Iceland, Ireland, Italy and Germany. He is also a member of the U.S. State Department Art for Embassies program.  He taught photography at Clark University from 1972 to 2002 in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA and has been a frequent lecturer to social, community and professional groups, in this country and abroad.
