SHS Boys Win Big at the NMH Regatta on May 4

All the boys boats on the Simsbury High School Crew Team took first place in their respective races at the Northfield Mount Hermon Regatta on May 4 in Northfield, Mass. It was a great day for racing, with a light current and moderate tailwind. Simsbury brought eight crews (Boys 1-4 and Girls 1-4). Three schools competed in the event including Simsbury, Northfield Mount Hermon, and Concord, Concord, NH.

The SHS 3rd Boys boat led the pack with a time of 4:29.7, a win of 25.2 seconds ahead of second place NMH and 30.9 seconds ahead of third place Concord. The 3rd Boys boat crew includes: Eric Bursiwicz (coxswain), Connor Lyman (stroke), Max Gaudio, Chris Palms, Jeremy Morrison, Matt McGoldrick, Jack Reid, Justin Anderson, and Simon Levesque.

The SHS 2nd Boys boat rowed to a strong win in their 1,500 meter race with a time of 4:39.3, 5.1 seconds ahead of Concord, and 14.8 seconds ahead of NMH. The SHS 2nd Boys boat crew includes: Stirling Brandt (coxswain), Nicholas Carabillo (stroke), Charlie Olson, Jacob Lauben, Brendan Murphy, Tucker Salls, Kevin Oleskewicz, Sean Harris, and Mark Gschwind.

The SHS 1st Boys boat prevailed in a tight race to win with a time of 4:23.8, 3.8 seconds ahead of second-place NMH and 15.7 seconds ahead of third-place Concord. The 1st Boys boat crew includes: Amy Carabillo (coxswain), Calvin Krikorian (stroke), Zach Korten, Dan Sparks, Billy Fahan, Alexander Ging, Jack Polizzi, Christopher Gschwind, and Trey Proctor.

The SHS 4th Boys boat won with a time of 4:57.7, 20 seconds ahead of second-place Concord and 21.6 seconds ahead of third-place NMH. The SHS 4th Boys boat crew includes: Alex Picken (coxswain), Adam Polkinghorn, David Sparks, Cameron Cantelmo, Alexander Marcktell, Tommy Kim, Chris Jackson, Brendan Richardson, and Christopher Rechen.

Strong rowing propelled the SHS Novice Girls boat into first place with a time of 5:45.55, 9.64 seconds ahead of second-place Concord and ahead of third-place NMH. SHS 4th Girls boat crew members include: Brenna Kelly (coxswain), Emily Fritz, Lilliana Starsiak, Hannah McKelvey, Jordan Emrick, Sasha Faizal, Morgan Locandro, Samantha Langdeau, and Kate Hoinoski.
