SHS 3rd Girls Take Home The Qunisigamond Cup on April 27

The SHS 3rd Girls boat rowed to a strong win in The Quinsigamond Cup (The “Q” Cup) on Saturday, April 27. Simsbury crews competed with other top crews including St. John’s, Shrewsbury, Middletown, Brookline, East Lyme, and Worcester at the regatta on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. The roots of The “Q” Cup date back to 1977.

The SHS 3rd Girls won their 1,500-meter race with a time of 6:08.1, 11.5 seconds ahead of second-place Simsbury’s 1st Novice Girls, and 13.9 seconds ahead of Shrewsbury’s 3rd Girls. The winning crew includes Danielle Osborne (coxswain), Sydney Bledsoe, Emily Caliman, Anna Paquette, Shannon DelGuidace, Emily O’Donnell, Keira Manser (stroke), Heather Schiller, and Ana Ashchepkova.

SHS crews competed in a total of seven races in the regatta, placing third in four of the contested races on a beautiful day with almost no wind. The SHS 1st Girls Boat placed second, SHS 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Boys boats all placed third, along with SHS 2nd Girls. The SHS Boys Novice boat placed fourth.
