Simsbury has Solid Showing at the Andover Regatta

Simsbury Crew had a solid showing as they kicked off the spring racing season at the Andover Regatta on April 5. Strong currents and a tailwind combined with a grey, overcast sky created less than ideal conditions for the rowers; midway through the regatta, the tailwind shifted to a headwind with 20 mph crosswind gusts. Still, Simsbury persevered and competed strongly against New England powerhouses Phillips Academy Andover and Essex.

The SHS Boys 1st Boat came in second with a time of 4:49, six seconds behind first-place Andover and 10 seconds ahead of third-place Essex. The SHS Girls 3rd Boat came in a tight third with a time of 5:04, four seconds behind second-place Andover. SHS Boys 2nd and 3rd Boats placed third and the SHS Girls 1st and 2nd Boats placed third and second in their respective races.
