Tikkun olam

"Repairing the world"

Last evening, I was delighted to attend the Greater Hartford Legislative Forum, sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford.

All candidates were invited to this special event at the Jewish Community Center in West Hartford.

I enjoyed listening to some wonderful speakers and meeting with Jewish leaders and other candidates from Greater Hartford.

A great opportunity to learn about the legislative priorities of the Jewish community.

What a meaningful way to observe the 11th anniversary of 9/11 – by building bridges and creating a better understanding of each other.

I was particularly moved by the Hebrew phrase that I learned: Tikkun olam

It means "repairing the world" (or "healing and restoring the world") which suggests humanity's shared responsibility.

A beautiful phrase to illuminate the darkness of September 11th

Thank you to Jewish Federation for including me in this forum.

The article says it provides information about "various ways" the community can helpRead More teachers. However, it provides information only about the Staples discount program. The link takes you to a Staples website, not to a list of ways communities are helping. In addition, statistics given are national, not relating to Simsbury, or even Connecticut. This seems like a canned article designed to promote Staples. Was it written and submitted by that retailer?
