Latimer Lane Bike/Walk to School Wed., May 7 – Drive with Care

May 7, 2014 is National Bike to School Day, and Latimer Lane School is celebrating by hosting Bike/Walk to School Day. Students, teachers, and staff from Latimer Lane School and more than 1200 schools around the country will choose active transportation to get to school. Bike/Walk to School Day events will also be held at Tootin’ Hills School on May 14 and Squadron Line School on May 15.

For Latimer’s event, the Safe Routes to School Committee has set up neighborhood meeting locations from which parent chaperones will walk or bike with students to school. Police escorts or traffic assistance will be available at key locations including Latimer Lane at the rail trail parking lot, and the intersection of Old Meadow Plain and Red Stone Drive.

As always, but especially on Bike/Walk to School Day, please DRIVE WITH CARE while students are traveling to and from school (6:45-8:45 AM; 2:00-4:00 PM).

Bike/walk-to-school-day events are part of the national Safe Routes to School initiative dedicated to improving conditions around schools so that more children can safely walk and bike to school, promoting healthy lifestyles and a healthy earth.
