The Ethel Walker School is hosting a Simsbury Open Studio Art Exhibit this month. The public is invited to view the work of 8 Simsbury Open Studio painters and ceramic artists in the school gallery weekdays starting at 9 a.m. There will also be an Opening Reception from 4:00 to 7:00 on Thursday, October 18.

The Community Farm of Simsbury is hosting a Columbus Day Mini-Vacation Camp today starting at 9 a.m. The camp will feature activities for children ages 3-8 that include tending to the animals and helping in the gardens, a hay ride and nature hike, pumpkin or gourd painting, a history lesson on Christopher Columbus, a Columbus inspired recycled boat race, farm favorite games, and baking apple and pumpkin pies. The cost for the full day program is $79. An extended day program is available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Cost for the extended day program is $30.

Parlez-vous francais? Why not join the Conversational French Class at the Simsbury Public Library and refresh your memory or prepare for your next trip. The library is offering a free series of classes. Meet with Monsieur Christian Gaborit, native French speaker from 6:30-7:30 on Monday evenings in the Friends Cafe at the library.

Don't forget to support the efforts of a group of SHS students who are working to build a Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial in Simsbury. They need to raise $200,000 to make this happen. For more information visit the MLK in CT website.
