[Update] Missing Beagle Last Seen in Granby

Have you seen Jilly? Jilly is a missing Beagle last seen along the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail in Farmington, or maybe Granby.

[Updated] Nov. 14, 2012 at 7:16 a.m.

The Beagle seen roaming in the Farmington area is most likely not Jilly. According to Kathy in the comments section, this dog is likely from that area and is known for running away from its home.

The more recent Granby sighting by Beth T. in Granby is reported to be the more likely scenario according to Rebecca Strempfer, mother of the missing dog's owner.

"She looked well, not thin or injured, I tried to get her to come closer and then followed her through woods and pricker bushes for a while, but I lost her, unfortunately," Beth T. wrote.

Animal Control and the owner were contacted, according to Beth T.

New Patch reader reports suggest that Jilly may actually be in the Granby area, not Farmington.

On Tuesday Beth T. wrote: "I don't think that's possible- I just saw her on RT 20 in Granby, by Canal Rd. I tried to get her to come closer with some dog treats but lost her in the woods heading North towards the center and 202."

One aspect of the sightings remains consistent—Jilly appears to be traveling in the vicinity of the Farmington Valley Greenway/Farmington Canal Heritage Trail.

It's been nearly two months since a recently adopted Beagle went missing from her new home in Simsbury. On November 9, the dog's owner received notice that his dog may now be roaming the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail in Farmington.

Jilly was adopted from an Ohio dog rescue agency in early September and has been missing since just four days after she came to her new home in Simsbury.

Jilly's new owner, Chris Lilley, a volunteer firefighter with the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company, received notice of several sightings in Simsbury and Granby during the month of October.

Now it seems Jilly has traveled south, according to her owner.

Jilly was most likely abused before she was adopted and seems to be very afraid of people, according to her owners. Those who have seen Jilly said she appears to be very skinny and very dirty.

If you happen to spot Jilly wandering around, contact Chris Lilley at 860-559-9657 or Simsbury Animal Control at 860-658-3110.
